Italian meeting transcription, written up for you.

Italian conversation overlaps by design — people finish each other's sentences as a sign of engagement, which makes speaker separation the whole game.

Italian spelling is close to phonetic, which helps, but spoken Italian sets a different challenge: turn-taking overlaps heavily. Simultaneous speech is a marker of involvement rather than rudeness, and a busy meeting can have two or three voices running at once for extended stretches. That makes automatic speaker labelling, rather than raw word accuracy, the feature that decides whether an Italian transcript is worth having.

Regional variation is substantial. The languages of Naples, Sicily, Venice and Sardinia are not accents of Italian but distinct varieties with their own vocabulary and grammar, and speakers move between the local variety and standard Italian depending on who is present. Northern and southern standard Italian also differ in vowel quality and consonant length. Meetings in a family firm in Bari sound very unlike a boardroom in Milan.

Business Italian imports English heavily in finance, technology and marketing — il meeting, la call, lo smart working — and Italian professional life still runs substantially on in-person meetings, site visits and conversations over lunch where the real decisions land. GetNotes records the room from a phone with no bot, and returns a summary, the decisions and action items with owners, which maps onto the verbale most Italian organisations already produce.

Where it earns its keep

An assemblea condominiale

A building assembly with thirty owners, overlapping argument and a legal requirement to record the resolutions. The administrator cannot chair and minute at once. Recording produces a transcript to draft the verbale from, which the assembly then approves.

A supplier meeting in a manufacturing district

A conversation with a supplier in Veneto or Emilia-Romagna about tooling and lead times, held in the workshop with machinery running. There is no call and no laptop. A phone recording turns it into a written follow-up.

A meeting where three people speak at once

A fast planning discussion where everyone contributes simultaneously and nobody writes anything down. Speaker-labelled transcription untangles who proposed what, and the minutes list the decisions rather than the crosstalk.

How GetNotes works

  1. Record or upload. Hit record on your phone or laptop in the room — or drop in an audio file you already have. No bot joins anything.
  2. It writes it down. Every word transcribed, every speaker labelled, in 90+ languages including ones that switch mid-sentence.
  3. Share the minutes.Summary, decisions, and action items with owners — ready before everyone's back at their desk.

Questions, answered

Can GetNotes cope with Italians talking over each other?

Overlapping speech is normal in Italian conversation rather than a breakdown of it, and GetNotes applies automatic speaker diarisation to attribute contributions. Heavy simultaneous speech is hard for any system, so a phone placed centrally on the table gives noticeably better separation than one sitting next to a single participant.

Does it handle regional varieties like Neapolitan or Sicilian?

Standard Italian across regional accents transcribes well. Neapolitan, Sicilian and Sardinian are distinct languages rather than accents, so a meeting held substantially in one of them is a harder case. Most business meetings switch into standard Italian for the parts that get minuted, which is usually the part you need.

Can it produce something like a verbale?

The output covers the substance — what was discussed, what was decided and who is doing what — with the transcript available for the passages that matter word for word. An assemblea condominiale verbale has its own required form and has to be approved by the assembly, so treat the GetNotes output as the amministratore's working draft rather than the finished document.

What about English words used in Italian business meetings?

They are transcribed as spoken. Italian professional language borrows English finance, technology and marketing vocabulary constantly, and GetNotes handles switching within a sentence rather than converting everything into one language, so the written record matches what was actually said in the room.
