Most 'Hindi' business meetings are not in Hindi — they are in Hinglish, and that is exactly where generic transcription tools fall apart.
Hindi is written in Devanagari, an abugida where each consonant carries an inherent vowel and matras hang above, below and around the letter. Getting that right matters for readability: बड़ा and बडा are not the same word, and a transcript that drops nuktas or conjuncts reads like a typo storm. GetNotes returns clean Devanagari with the diacritics intact, so a transcript can be pasted into a circular or a board note without being retyped by hand.
The bigger practical issue is Hinglish. In a Gurugram or Mumbai meeting, a single sentence routinely starts in Hindi, carries the numbers, the deadline and the product name in English, and lands back in Hindi. There is no standard written form of this — some people write it in Devanagari, some in Roman. GetNotes transcribes the meeting as it was actually spoken rather than forcing everything into one language, so the English terms stay English and the Hindi stays Hindi.
Hindi speech also carries sounds that English-trained models were never built for: retroflex consonants like ट and ड made with the tongue curled back, and the aspirated pairs क/ख, प/फ that change meaning entirely. Add regional colouring — Bhojpuri-influenced Hindi from eastern UP and Bihar, Haryanvi from the NCR belt, Bombay Hindi with its Marathi and Gujarati borrowings — and you have a language where the model's training breadth decides whether the transcript is usable.
It is also worth knowing where the popular alternatives sit. Otter.ai's published language list ran to six languages when we last checked it in July 2026, and Hindi was not among them. That is not a small gap for an Indian team that found the tool through an English-language best-of list, and it is worth checking the current list yourself before you commit. Does GetNotes transcribe Hindi in Devanagari or Roman script?
GetNotes returns Hindi in Devanagari, with matras, nuktas and conjunct characters preserved. English words spoken inside a Hindi sentence stay in Roman script, which is how people actually write Hinglish in practice. You can copy the transcript straight into a document without transliterating anything by hand.
Can GetNotes handle a meeting that mixes Hindi and English?
Yes — that is the normal case, not an edge case. GetNotes transcribes code-switched Hinglish speech as it was spoken, so a sentence that starts in Hindi, states a figure and a deadline in English and finishes in Hindi comes back intact.
