Tamil is genuinely diglossic — people speak one variety and write another — so a Tamil transcript has to decide, sentence by sentence, which Tamil it is looking at.
Tamil separates its formal written variety from everyday spoken Tamil more sharply than most languages. A speaker will say வந்துட்டேன் where the written form is வந்துவிட்டேன், and this is not slang — it is the ordinary state of the language. A transcript that silently converts everything into literary Tamil no longer matches what anyone said; one that reproduces the spoken form is faithful but unfamiliar in a formal document.
