An Indian business meeting rarely stays in one language for a whole sentence, let alone a whole hour — and the bot-based notetakers people find in English-language roundups mostly do not transcribe Hindi at all.
Sit in a review meeting in Gurugram or Coimbatore and count the language switches. A sentence starts in Hindi, the numbers and product names arrive in English, someone answers in Marathi, and the follow-up comes back in a mix of all three. Hinglish has no settled written form — people type it in Devanagari, in Roman script, or in whatever lands first. GetNotes transcribes mid-sentence switching rather than making you pick one language for the whole recording, and applies speaker labels throughout.
That matters more than usual here because the obvious alternatives do not cover it. Plenty of Indian business does not happen on a call: a factory-floor walk with the production head, a distributor meeting in the back of a shop, a society committee meeting, a tuition class, a field call in a customer's showroom.
On the legal side, Indian businesses are in a preparation window rather than past a deadline. The DPDP Act 2023 is being commenced in phases, with the substantive obligations landing later, and consent under it must be clear, informed, tied to a stated purpose and withdrawable. On recording specifically, India has no all-party statute: recording a conversation you are yourself part of has generally been treated as permissible, and courts have admitted such recordings as evidence. Recording a conversation you are not part of is a different matter entirely.
Even so, privacy is a fundamental right under Article 21 following the Puttaswamy judgment, so a secret recording of a private conversation can create civil exposure where no criminal statute is engaged. Employment contracts and client agreements often add their own restrictions on top. The sensible practice doubles as good manners: say at the start, in whichever language the room is using, that you are recording for minutes. A distributor or channel-partner meeting
A regional sales manager spends a week meeting distributors, and each conversation covers credit terms, stock returns, scheme disputes and promises about the next quarter — mostly in the local language, with pricing and SKU names in English. Typing while negotiating is not an option. Record it, and the commitments come back in writing with each person's contribution attributed.
A factory floor or project site review
The plant head, the maintenance supervisor and a vendor stand next to a line that has stopped twice this week. Decisions get made there, in Hindi or Marathi, over machine noise, and then never reach the MIS. A phone recording of that fifteen minutes becomes an action list with owners instead of a conversation everybody remembers differently.

A research team runs respondent interviews across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, each in the respondent's own language, in homes and shops rather than a studio.
