Where Fireflies.ai is the better pick
Pick Fireflies if your meetings genuinely happen on Zoom, Meet or Teams and the value is in the archive: hundreds of recorded calls you want to interrogate with AskFred, pushed into your CRM automatically. If you need a language GetNotes does not cover, Fireflies' 100-plus list is the widest here and that alone is a good reason to choose it.

Fireflies.ai is the integration-heavy end of this market. Its Notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and around ten more platforms, and once a meeting is in the archive AskFred lets you ask questions across all of it at once — what did this account say about pricing in March, which calls mentioned the migration. Its CRM and workflow automation is the strongest of the tools GetNotes gets compared to, and speaker labels are included on every tier including free.
It is also the only product in this comparison with more transcription languages than GetNotes: 100-plus with auto-detection, against 99. GetNotes does not claim to lead on that number. What differs is the capture assumption. Fireflies is organised around a bot with a meeting link; GetNotes assumes there is no link, because the meeting is six people and a whiteboard, and a phone on the table is the only microphone in the room.
The second practical difference is metering. Fireflies free gives unlimited transcription but the official pricing page lists 400 storage minutes per team and a monthly allowance of AI credits, and the credit model is a recurring source of confusion — transcription minutes and storage minutes are not the same thing. Where it earns its keep
A field team with no meeting links at all
Site visits, supplier walk-rounds, a conversation in a warehouse. There is no calendar invite for a bot to attach to and often no reliable Wi-Fi. Fireflies' Notetaker has nothing to join. GetNotes runs in the phone browser: press record in the room, and the transcript, speaker labels and action items are waiting when you are back at a desk.
Hybrid meeting, three people in the room and one dialling in
The classic failure case. A bot on the call hears one merged stream from the conference speaker, so the three people around the table become hard to tell apart. GetNotes records that room directly from a phone placed among them, which is a better position for separating voices that share one physical space.
You keep running out of AI credits mid-month
Fireflies meters some AI features by credits, and the allowance is a common source of surprise because storage minutes and transcription minutes are counted separately. If a specific rare language is your deciding factor, check Fireflies' list first. The difference between the two is capture, not coverage.
Can Fireflies record an in-person meeting?
Fireflies has iOS and Android apps, but the product is designed around a bot that joins online calls from your calendar. GetNotes has no bot and no calendar integration at all: it records the physical room from a phone or laptop browser, then labels who said what and writes minutes with decisions and action items with owners.
